A quick adventure around Lake Hood

Sometimes you find yourself with an extra day of vacation, left without plans for the last portion of your trip before you fly out of the airport. While some may see this as a blessing, others seek to find that one last Alaskan adventure before they depart.

If you are in the Puffin Inn’s neck of the woods, SegTours of Anchorage can be that adventure. SegTours has been offering Segway tours in the downtown area for years, but have recently started operations at the Alaska Aviation Heritage Museum at Lake Hood. Just a mile from the Puffin Inn, and a stones-throw from the Ted Stevens airport, the location is extremely convenient and very impressive.

Also, SegTours allows guests to catch a glimpse into the inner workings of the world’s busiest seaplane base. After an instructional video and some guided practice, you will feel like a seasoned professional on the Segway. Your tour leader will lead you around Lake Hood, sharing what makes this place so culturally and historically important to Alaska. Rolling past float planes, monumental landmarks, and natural scenery brings to heart the innovation that made Alaska what it is today. Furthermore, after you finish, you will be welcomed into the museum itself to enjoy the stories that took place at various locations on the tour.
